Position
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with solid new product development and R&D experience. The incumbent will have the opportunity to lead electrical and controls development (new and existing products) and testing specific to industrial process cooling, heating, and material handling equipment.
Key
Responsibilities:
Investigate and implement the latest technologies for electrical and controls systems for all products.
Develop standards for electrical drawings and documentation.
Develop and implement electrical testing plans as required.
Provide support for the building of prototype units and test fixtures, and engineering support for product improvements.
Interface directly with the R&D manager and designers to ensure the products meets specifications regarding performance, quality and appearance.
Respond to, and implement continuous cost reduction and product improvements.
Provide technical support and training for Sales, Manufacturing, and Service departments.
Interface with vendors, other engineering and manufacturing groups as required.
Key Goals/Metrics:
Provide the marketplace with highest value and quality products at the lowest possible costs.
Provide the industry's best design engineering and application support.
Develop and bring to market a continuous flow of new products and innovations
Foster a team-based approach focused on continuous improvement in every step of the value chain.
Provide 95% or greater on-time delivery based on development schedule.
Improve cost of quality by 20% over previous products.
Achieve operating profit goals for each product development.
Support R&D Engineering metrics.
Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor's of Science Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of product design and development experience.
Solid background with controls and electrical components in industrial processes.
Proficient with PLC and microprocessor programming, human interface machines, test equipment, and data acquisition hardware and software.
Experience with communication protocols including Ethernet and Modbus.
Proficient with UL/CSA/ESA/CE standards.
Experience with Allen Bradley, Omron, Red Lion, Carel, Panasonic, Siemens, and Mitsubishi programming a plus.
Proficient with computers and basic business software.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Excellent written and oral communication skills using the English language
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
Proven project management skills.
