We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Structural Steel Estimator to join our thriving construction team. This role is integral to our operations, contributing to the successful execution of construction projects by accurately estimating the cost of structural steel elements. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, exceptional numerical skills, and a solid understanding of construction project timelines. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a background in estimating to grow their career in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel elements in construction projects with a focus on labor.
2. Conduct quantity take-offs to determine the amount of material needed for each project.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes.
4. Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear and accurate estimates and addressing any queries they may have.
5. Work closely with project managers to develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring that estimates align with project schedules.
6. Conduct regular follow-ups with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that all parties are aligned and that projects are progressing as planned.
7. Continuously monitor industry trends and market conditions to ensure that estimates are accurate and competitive.
8. Participate in project meetings, providing input on cost-related matters and offering solutions to any potential issues.
9. Work collaboratively with the rest of the construction team to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
2. Proven experience in estimating.
3. Proficiency in conducting quantity take-offs and developing project timelines.
4. Excellent customer communication skills, with the ability to explain complex cost-related matters in a clear and understandable manner.
5. Strong follow-up skills, with the ability to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
6. A Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
7. Proficiency in using estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
8. Exceptional numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy.
9. Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
10. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions.
